Make Your Virtual Recording a Mic Drop Moment
Even as we move towards a post-Covid world, it’s obvious that remote work is here to stay. Bard Tales is embracing virtual office settings and helping our clients embrace it, too. We’ve created a lot of remote interview-style content for our clients using some cool software that gets us a more professional Zoom recording (no lag here!). Even though Bard Tales has the recording covered, here’s a few things you can do on your end to guarantee the perfect final product.
Technical Needs
Before a meeting, you should test your download speed and verify that it’s at least 5kbps. If your connection is lagging, you can:
Plug your computer straight into your router with an ethernet cable
Restart your device if it hasn’t been shut down lately
Ask that other household members stay off the connection
Sound
Although you should always test your audio before a virtual meeting, you can ensure the best quality recording from the get-go by:
Ditching your computer’s built-in speaker for a high-quality headset
Setting up in a quiet room with no distractions
Turning notification tones off on any devices
Muting yourself when not speaking
Frame the Shot
Now that your video call is guaranteed to be high-quality, your environment should follow suit.
Position your webcam at eye level
Tidy your space or blur your background
Set up your light source. The best lighting comes from behind the camera, not behind you.
Be Camera Ready
You can’t forget one the most important aspects of appearing professional on a call – looking the part.
Dress professionally. If your outfit wouldn’t be appropriate at an in-person meeting, don’t wear it to a virtual one.
Put in the effort. A quick comb of your hair and a little makeup go a long way.
At Bard Tales, we’re excited about the future of virtual recordings and all the opportunities remote work can lead us to. Whether you’re right around the corner or across the country, check out our work and let us know how we can help bring your project to life.
